Field Guide Training Course

If you yearn to learn about the natural history of Cape Cod, Wing Island, and the Stony Brook Valley area, and you enjoy talking with others and sharing what you've learned, then come join a like-minded group of individuals and become a volunteer field guide.

2024 Field Guide Training

Six Tuesday Sessions: March 12th, March 19th, March 26th & April 2nd, 9th & 23rd, 9am-2pm plus an opportunity to shadow a veteran guide on a walk during the week of April 15th - 19th.

All sessions will include multiple presentations and a walk through a salt marsh and over Wing Island to Cape Cod Bay (i.e., dress appropriately and wear waterproof boots). During the school vacation week, April 15th – 19th, guides will have an opportunity to shadow a veteran guide leading one of the daily scheduled family walks.

New guides will learn about the natural history of Cape Cod in general, and the Stony Brook Valley and Wing Island in Brewster in particular, as well as how to lead walks and share information with visitors. Veteran guides are invited to participate to review information and to contribute knowledge and experience to the sessions as all guides prepare for the new season of leading walks of school groups and families throughout the spring, summer and fall.
